Connect to perform
Creating connections within your organization, in-depth and playfully
expert in connection
The driving force of any organization is the connection between people. It is where new ideas originate. It is where creativity flows. It is the basis for progress. But how do you make sure that this connection – between people, and also between departments – remains dynamic and sparkling, in a world that is constantly changing and continuously demands attention and adjustment? This is exactly what Dock-in does: we work together with you to enhance and strengthen the chemistry within and between teams and we prepare these teams for future challenges. Bottom-up and with positive energy, we build on the qualities and talents that are already present. Together we create a truly connective culture. The modern world is constantly changing and watching over our shoulders. Digital systems are integrated into our processes. Being in control in workflows is essential. Digitalization, roadmaps, data, measurement tools for output and efficiency, dashboards with KPIs and traffic light reports… and it doesn’t stop there! Additionally workplaces are increasingly flexible – as are our working hours. At the same time, our workload is increasing. All this requires a great amount of adaptability. Of organizations, of teams and especially of people. We sometimes have to let go of the known, without knowing exactly where we are heading. With the risk of feeling out of control. We are here to help you manage the uncertainties in this multifaceted playing field. How can you swiftly respond to all changes in a targeted way? How do you stimulate the ability to improvise and at the same time ensure that your people remain in control of their work? We believe: by creating an open, accessible and dynamic culture that allows everyone to stay true to themselves. People will get to know, appreciate and support each other better. They develop together, in their own working environment. And it is in these small, local places where the real change happens. In their own meaningful context. The connection between people makes the difference in all these processes. Connect to perform!
How we work
Thorough and playful – that is our style. We design tailor-made programs, in close cooperation with the people in your organization. Drawing on years of experience at various companies and organizations, we have seen that our approach works. Our programs bring focus to the necessary (behavioral) change. And, at the same time, they provide structure to the way in which we work towards our goals. We use working methods from the world of theater as well as audiovisual applications. This allows for relevant stories to emerge, that form the basis of a strong, shared and connecting perspective. We start with a deep dive (Dip). In other words, a thorough exploration. Because first we want to discover where the unique strengths of the organization and the employees lie. The core qualities. The opportunities. We are curious about the visible and invisible values, customs, patterns and beliefs that have shaped the current dynamics. In our approach we build on these elements that provide teams with strength and purpose. Every organization has its own strong foundation. Their own 'secret sauce'. This unique set of DNA is leading and must be strengthened. After the deep dive we exchange the stories and impressions. Together we give meaning to it. We interpret and provide new, sometimes unexpected perspectives. We facilitate an open dialogue on the important themes (Define). The process of Immerse and Interpret leads to recognition and acknowledgement. A sense of urgency is emerging in this phase, which releases the energy and motivation to set the change in motion. Next we formulate a concrete plan of approach or program that everyone can commit to wholeheartedly. A program with a compelling story. A realistic story that gives energy, inspires, motivates and resonates (Design). Finally, we implement this plan (Do). This will enable us to realize the desired behavioral change in practice. Of course in the right rhythm and with the right cadence. For us, the cycle ends when the change has become the new culture. That is why we like to stay involved with progress interviews and work sessions. We also share our insights for next steps and actions. In other words: we continue to dip, define and design to continue to do what is needed and adjust where needed.
Connection on every level
Our broad experience in many organizations has led to our Connect to Perform Table. And it is no coincidence that it has the shape of a circle: it is instantly clear that the concept of connection is an interplay of all kinds of dimensions. What at first sight might look like loose elements, is actually an unbreakable entity. It is also a metaphor for a 'round table', the place where consultations take place and where new solutions and commitments have been forged for over centuries. Our Connect to Perform Table is helpful in creating clarity. It creates a shared perspective. A starting point from which we build connections - with an eye for the mission of your organization as well as the result we want to achieve together. It creates clarity on the structure of the way of working and on how to improve cooperation. It also helps to strengthen mutual trust and to establish a connection with the (external) context. This is what provides focus and connection. A sense of common purpose. The Table shows which connections are needed in a team to achieve the performance you aim for. In short, a clarifying and solid foundation that has often been the starting point for concrete actions, plans and progress.
connecting power of stories
People exchange stories. We have been doing this for centuries, back in the prehistoric days up until today. And we always will. Because it is THE way to better understand each other and the world around us. Well-told stories, big or small, have the power to connect, inspire, motivate, convince and sometimes leave an unforgettable impression. They lead to new insights. And to new ambitions, both individually and collectively. For us, the exchange of stories is essential. If you want to strengthen, change, restore or adjust an organizational culture, stories are indispensable. The worlds of thought of our colleagues make clear what our shared goals, ambitions and values are. It deepens mutual relationships and sheds light on the path we want to walk together to get there. We want to reveal these stories in a playful way. We do this in our own unique way, with the help of video and theatre. Through this form we appeal to all senses, which deepens the shared experience. We do this for a reason: theatrical working methods are the perfect way to make topics from the 'undercurrent' apparent. It helps us to take two steps back and review our own situation with a compassionate smile. So, are we then going to reenact Pulp Fiction or Game of Thrones? No, not quite… although we would undoubtedly come a long way… No, we only use these resources when it is the right way for your organization. We said it before: the goal is leading. Therefore the goal also determines how we design the program. In one situation, a registration of a discussion form is appropriate, in another, video can strike the right chord to have meaningful personal development conversations with employees. Or maybe a clear animation or a documentary is ‘what the doctor ordered’. In short, it depends on the organizational DNA and the objectives. Discretion is of course paramount. The (personal) stories of employees remain where they belong: within the organization. “The road itself is your destination”, this is what philosopher Confucius said more than two thousand years ago. You may think he put it a bit strong, but as far as we are concerned he did have a point. We believe that the process towards the goal is at least as important as the goal itself. Along the way, by telling the story, we learn to recognize what we really find important. We get to the core. As individuals and as teams.
